Midwest Belly Dancers' Meet Up
-- July 23, 2005

The meet up was a blast, even though the weather kept a number of belly dancers away. While a few dancers showed up throughout the weekend, most of them were faire regulars.

Before the rain started on Saturday, though, the dancing took to the streets in front of Heartbeat Drums, to the delight of a large crowd of patrons. David, Hatim, and Randy drummed for the dancers, and everyone had a great time, even our little Evey.

Sunday was incredibly hot and uncomfortable, but at least the wind was blowing a steady breeze the entire day. We spent most of the day in the shop, hiding from the sun and heat. Zayna learned how to play the Beledi rhythm with my help, even though she thought she would never learn to play the drums!

Keep an eye out for updates of the next Midwest Belly Dancers' Meet Up on August 13, 2005!

Heartbeat Drums & Creations -- Bristol Renaissance Faire Shop

Along with belly dance classes, Heartbeat Drums & Creations offers free drum lessons on request all weekend. Drop in to learn the basics of hand drumming, or if you are already an accomplished drummer, just pull up a drum or two around our table and join in the fun!

At Heartbeat Drums & Creations, browse our selection of handmade ceramic drums to find the perfect drum for you. If you come across a drum that has the look you want, but you would like a different size, head, or sound, keep in mind that we do special orders on drums. Also, take some time to look at David's paintings, murals, and sculptures.

Besides our own hand-crafted items, we also carry a variety of student and professional zils (finger cymbals), ankle bells, tambourines, bodhrans, and more. Visit Heartbeat Drums & Creations at the faire or contact us at heartbeatdrums@watercolourwizard.com for more information.
